Travel to Taiwan, 1952

Our story is three generations old and begins with two simple facts: our family has always loved food. And, our family has always strived for perfection. These two principles sparked an idea for a business that valued wholesome ingredients and making a quality product we could be proud of.

A historical love of food

1952

The oldest of seven boys, a medical student takes on his family’s livelihood in the small Taiwanese city of Chang Hua. Scarce on resources, preserving food was paramount, so he blended a little art with science to create a jerky shop that was known for its great ingredients.

1982

After immigrating to the United States, the family brought its process and recipes with them. With a strong backing from other Asian expats, the business grew and flavor experimentation expanded.

1992

An official site for production was found in southern California, allowing Golden Island Jerky Company to grow in both distribution and flavors. Bigger? Yes. But never losing sight of tradition and what it can do for future generations of the family.
